The pressure to have a plan
It can feel as though everyone else knows their next step: a degree, a job, a relationship, a purpose. Social media often shows the milestones without the uncertainty behind them. Comparing your private questions with someone else's public highlights is an unfair test.
Trade a perfect plan for a useful next step
Instead of asking ‘What am I doing with my life?’ try ‘What is one thing I can learn or try this week?’ A conversation with a mentor, a job application, or a new class can give you information that worrying alone cannot.
Allow yourself to change direction
Changing your mind after learning more is not the same as failing. Sometimes growth means adjusting a goal to fit your needs, values, or circumstances. You are allowed to revise the plan.
Stay connected while you figure it out
Uncertainty often feels heavier in isolation. Talk with someone you trust about what is unclear, and be specific about whether you want advice or simply someone to listen.
Try this reflection
Write down three things: what matters to you right now, what you can control this week, and one small experiment you could try. You do not need every answer before you begin.
