The Sunday Evening Reset: 5 Habits for Anxiety
A gentle routine for easing the transition into a new week. You do not have to solve Monday on Sunday night.
1. Name what is weighing on you
Take two minutes to write down what feels uncertain. Separate facts from predictions. For example, “I have an assignment due” is a fact; “I will definitely fail” is a prediction.
2. Choose three priorities
List only three things that matter most tomorrow. Give each one a first action that takes ten minutes or less. You can revisit the rest later.
3. Prepare one small thing
Pack your bag, lay out clothes, fill a water bottle, or check tomorrow’s timetable. A small preparation can make the morning less demanding.
4. Give your body a calmer signal
Try inhaling gently for four counts and exhaling for six, without straining, for about a minute. Or stretch, listen to music, or take a comfortable walk. Skip breathing exercises that make you dizzy or uncomfortable.
5. Make room for rest
Choose a reasonable stopping point for planning and screens. Rest is not a reward you have to earn. If worry returns, remind yourself that you already wrote down the next step.
Try this reflection
What is one thing I can control tomorrow? What is one thing I can release tonight? Who could I ask for support if the week feels heavy?
When extra support may help
If anxiety is persistent, affecting sleep, school, relationships, or everyday functioning, consider speaking with a qualified mental health professional.
