This article provides general wellness education, not a diagnosis or treatment plan. If you are struggling, a qualified professional can help.
Notice without judging
Try saying: “I am noticing anxiety right now.” You do not have to argue with every anxious thought.
Ground in the present
Look around and name five things you see, four things you feel, three things you hear, two things you smell, and one thing you taste. Skip any sense that is uncomfortable.
Slow the pace
Try a comfortable inhale and a slightly longer, gentle exhale. If focusing on breathing makes you feel worse, focus instead on your feet touching the ground.
Take one practical step
Drink water, move to a quieter spot, or message someone you trust. Choose the smallest action that feels possible.
Get extra help when needed
If anxiety is frequent, intense, or affecting daily life, a healthcare professional can help you explore support and treatment.
